Fitness Assessment and Exercise Prescription for All Ages™ is a home study continuing education course for health and fitness professionals to safely and accurately assess cardiorespiratory fitness, muscular fitness, body composition, flexibility, and balance; then design safe and effective programs for resistance training, weight management, body composition, flexibility, low back care, and balance for all ages.
This course is offered in a distance-learning format providing research based continuing education for health and fitness professionals who wish to dramatically increase their knowledge of fitness assessment and exercise programming for all ages of clients.
Certified health and fitness professionals holding more than one certification may obtain CECs/CEUS for all approved certification organizations (see list above) for which they need continuing education at no additional cost.
1. Explain an overview of physical activity as related to health and chronic disease for people of all ages; and, explain preliminary health screening and risk classification.
2. Describe the principles of fitness assessment, exercise prescription and exercise program adherence for all age groups.
3. Assess cardiorespiratory fitness and design cardiorespiratory exercise programs for all age groups.
4. Assess muscular fitness and design resistance training programs for all age groups.
5. Assess body composition and design weight management and body composition programs for all age groups.
6. Assess flexibility and design programs for flexibility and low back care for all age groups.
7. Assess balance for varied age groups and design balance programs with a focus on the older adult.

The American Academy of Health and Fitness reserves the right to discontinue the sale and/or support of any of its continuing education courses. Notification of such will be given six months prior to discontinuance to allow for course completion and testing. No refund will be given for courses that are discontinued.
Different professional organizations offer continuing education credits, most commonly called CECs (continuing education credits) and CEUs (continuing education units). Most CECs/CEUs require one contact hour of professional activity for one credit. Example conversions are: ACE, NSCA and NASM: 0.1 = 1.0 contact hour; ACSM, BOC, ISSA, WITS and YMCA: 1.0 = 1.0 contact hour.
