Description

The Fundamentals of Corrective Exercise is specifically designed to give health and fitness professionals a framework to create a successful corrective exercise program. You will learn the elements of corrective exercise, how to select and adapt exercises to meet the needs of each client, and how to coach each technique effectively. With these techniques, you will help alleviate muscle and fascia restrictions, increase mobility and range of movement, build strength and promote pain-free functional movement within your clients.

Research shows that almost 90 percent of people who currently utilize the services of health, fitness and exercise professionals services report having temporary or chronic musculoskeletal issues that prevent them from performing even low-level physical activities without experiencing pain (Schroeder and Donlin 2013). Studies also show that one of the fastest growing segments of the population joining gyms is the over-55 demographic, yet only about 50 percent of fitness and exercise professionals report having the appropriate skills to serve people with muscle or joint pain and other physically limiting musculoskeletal conditions (IHRSA 2017; Schroeder and Donlin 2013).

The Fundamentals of Corrective Exercise Course helps fill this gap in care by educating students about the various types of corrective exercise strategies that are most appropriate for addressing common musculoskeletal imbalances. This knowledge is of paramount importance for professionals who wish to improve their competence when working with clients who experience muscle and movement dysfunction.
